Pizza oven canopy

01

The design as it stands

A small flat steel canopy on the dark clad wall, left of the narrow window, over the Everdure pizza oven and its stand. It repeats the boxed eave on the other side of the window.

What it is for, from the brief (20 Sep 2026): a bit of shelter for the pizza oven, and for whoever is cooking in winter, so rain is not landing on your head. Not a full roof: the courtyard keeps its sun.

Size. 2100 wide and 1300 out from the wall, centred in the 2500 run between the battened corner and the window, with 200 of cladding showing at each end.

Height. Exactly the existing eave: underside 2230 above the finished paving, top 2375, fascia 145. Colorbond Monument Matt, timber-look underside.

How it stands. Two slim steel columns flat against the wall, hidden behind the stand. Nothing lands out in the paving.

New on 12 Oct 2026. The gutter moves to the house side and the roof falls back to it, hidden inside a level fascia. The oven is drawn in its real Terracotta colour. Current preference is no splashback.

Status. A concept for Harry to price and build from. It has not been engineered and nothing has been ordered.

To confirm or price

  • Engineer to check the steel, anchors and footing for wind uplift.
  • Harry to confirm the house-side gutter works with a frame only 50 deep (see the plans).
  • Whether a canopy this size needs council or PlanSA approval.
Current favourite, no splashbackAI-finished image. Made in ChatGPT on 12 Oct 2026 from John's own photo of the wall, to show the look. It is not a photograph of the finished job and nothing in it is measured: it draws the canopy tilted and a little thick, and the real one is level and matches the eave. The drawings govern.
The wall todayJohn's photo. The sand area is being paved in travertine, carrying on from the paving under the covered area on the right. The canopy goes on the ribbed wall left of the narrow window.
Front elevation, Rev EDrawing, to scale. The canopy fascia and the existing eave sit on the same two lines, broken only by the window.
